Johnson Co Emergency Management/IA HSEMD are sponsoring a two-day Flood Fight Operations Course # G 361 on March 28-29 at Johnson Co Emergency Management 4529 Melrose Ave, Iowa City lasting from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.
This course addresses community planning and response options for riverine flooding. While it does not deal with specialized flooding situations such as alluvial fan floods, coastal floods, flash floods, or floods related to ice jams, the same basic planning and response procedures could apply in these unique situations. Effective community planning is critical to successful flood operations.
Target Audience: A wide variety of partners for this course includes the following: Emergency managers, public works, first responders, local officials, US Army Corp of Engineers, elected officials, and those responsible for planning/preparing/managing the response to a flood
