IS-800.B National Response Framework, An Introduction (9:00 AM)

Course Description: The course introduces participants to the concepts and principles of the National Response Framework.
Target Audience: This course is intended for government executives, private-sector and nongovernmental organization (NGO) leaders, and emergency management practitioners. This includes senior elected and appointed leaders, such as Federal department or agency heads, State Governors, mayors, tribal leaders, and city or county officials - those who have a responsiblity to provide for effective response. Persons involved with emergency planning, response or recovery efforts.
Objectives:

The purpose of the National Response Framework.

The response doctrine established by the National Response Framework.
-
The roles and responsibilities of entities as specified in the National Response Framework.
-
The actions that support national response.
-
The response organizations used for multi-agency coordination.
-
How planning relates to national preparedness.

Iowa Local Emergency Planning Committee Workshop (8:30 AM)
Who Should Attend: LEPC leadership, Emergency Management Coordinators, Facility Safety Coordinators, local elected officials or citizens. This workshop is planned as an orientation to the purposes, duties and legal responsibilities of Local Emergency Planning Committees.
Workshop Costs: A fee of $25 will include all materials, breaks and lunch.
What You'll Receive: Each workshop attendee will recieve a notebook with copies of all the workshop presentations and a CD-ROM jam-packed with information.

G191 - Incident Command System & Emergency Operations Center Interface Course (ICS & EOC Interface) (8:00 AM)

Location: Johnson County EOC & Joint Communication Center, 4529 Melrose Ave., Iowa City, IA
Course Description: This 1-day course reviews ICS and EOC roles and responsibilities. Exercises and group discussions are used extensively to allow participants to begin developing an interface plan for their jurisdictions.
Target Audience: Incident commanders, command and general staff, and emergency operations center personnel from the same community. Personnel associated with On-Scene Incident Command, EOCs and Multiagency Coordination (MAC) systems entities.
Pre-requisites: IS-100.a
Objectives: This course will enable the participant to develop an effective interface between the Incident Command and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) by applying Incident Command System (ICS) principles. At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Describe ICS principles
- Describe MAC/EOC principles
- Identify the roles of ICS and EOC during emergency operations
- Using scenarios, analyze the ICS and EOC systems and identify various interface issues
- Apply ICS/EOC interface concepts in exercise situations
- Begin developing an ICS/EOC interface action plan for your community
