Free Webinar: The Intersection Of Public And Private Sector Continuity Planning (1:00 PM)

Space is limited. Reserve your Webinar seat now at: https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/803400218.

Since the advent of the Department of Homeland Security, resiliency in the public sector has been of considerable interest to the business continuity community. State, local and federal officials often mandated focus on incident command and mitigating a variety of disaster scenarios, which makes it difficult for them to understand the longer-term disruptions of more mundane impacts. DRI International is committed to assisting government officials at all levels to understand the role of business continuity planning within the framework of public/private sector cooperation and preparedness. This webinar will present a panel of experts from the business and government discussing the intersection of the sectors and what certified business continuity professionals offer their government counterparts.

SIP: Leaders Council Meeting (1:00 PM)
The quarterly Leaders Council meeting will be held at the Iowa Hospital Association Education Center at 100 E. Grand Ave. Des Moines, IA. Agenda and conference call information will be distributed to partners closer to the meeting date.

Webinar: The H1N1 Outbreak Of 2009: Did Officials Cry Wolf? (12:00 PM)

Were public health threats of the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus exaggerated? Were you prepared or caught off guard when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared H1N1 a staged 6 pandemic? The reporting of mass media had a large effect on how the public managed their communications during this health crisis.

Attend this Everbridge webinar to hear a critique of the information delivered to the public, including efficiency, believability and timeliness of the messages. Our featured speaker, internationally recognized pandemic communication expert Dr. Robert Chandler will discuss the public and private response to the H1N1 influenza.

Attend and you will learn:

  • Pros and cons of the global response to the H1N1 pandemic.
  • How organizations combated hysteria and misinformation with communication.
  • How to take lessons learned from the H1N1 pandemic and apply them to other emergencies.

While no one can predict if there will be a third wave of H1N1, it's not too early to assess the handling and management of the outbreak, and take away "lessons-learned" for the next pandemic event.

There is no charge to attend this webinar; sponsored by Everbridge. To register go to https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/517788584.
