Critical Infrastructure Key Resources (CI/KR) Awareness


The Critical Infrastructure Key Resources (CIKR) Awareness course provides public and private sector partners with the Nation's CIKR with essential knowledge and awareness necessary to understand and follow the guiding principals, roles and responsibilities that underlie the Nation's collaborative strategy for CIKR protection.  It also provides participants with the competencies needed to perform their roles and fulfill their responsibilities necessary to achieve CIKR protection goals and implement Sector-Specific Plans (SSPs) set forth in the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP).  The goal of the course is to inform, enable, and encourage state, local, tribal, territorial and private CIKR partners to leverage the resources that enhance CIKR protection efforts. 

Major Course Topics:
  • Objectives in achieving CIKR protection efforts through the implementation of the NIPP
  • Roles and responsibilities of CIKR partners
  • Risk management framework process
  • CIKR partnering mechanisms
  • CIKR information sharing network
  • Exploration of CIKR collaborative efforts in the jurisdiction
