Training: 15.b - Special Events Contingency Planning

Course Description: Provide event personnel information related to pre-event planning, forming the planning team, event hazard analysis, and responding to incidents during special events in their community.

 

Course Objectives: At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define special event
  • Identify a special event contingency planning team
  • Conduct a hazard analysis for a special event
  • Describe how the incident command system (ICS) can be used in response to an incident at a special event

Primary Audience: Emergency managers, personnel from emergency operations org., law enforcement, fire, medical services, public works, and representatives from other community organization, both public and private, for whom special event planning is not a regular responsibility.

Groups that could benefit: Organizers of VEISHEA, RAGBRAI, county fairs, farmers markets, Iowa State Fair, raceways, art fests, city & county events, scouting, and many more.
