The National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) was released on September 23, 2011. The NDRF is a guide that enables effective recovery support to disaster-impacted States, Tribes, Territorial and local jurisdictions. It provides a flexible structure that enables disaster recovery managers to operate in a unified and collaborative manner. It also focuses on how best to restore, redevelop and revitalize the health, social, economic, natural and environmental fabric of the community and build a more resilient Nation. The NDRF can be downloaded at http://www.fema.gov/pdf/recoveryframework/ndrf.pdf .
FEMA Recovery is developing a National Disaster Recovery Framework Interagency Operations Plan (NDRF IOP). This IOP will provide guidance for the Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator (FDRC) and Recovery Support Functions (RSF) coordinating agencies on their role in leading, coordinating and connecting disaster impacted communities needed to federal, state, tribal, territorial, non-governmental, and private sector resources, programs, and activities that are critical to recovery. The IOP will provide the operational detail necessary for Federal departments, agencies and their staff at the national and regional levels to implement the NDRF pre- and post-disaster.
We are interested in having representatives from the Private Sector participate in the development of the NDRF IOP, to ensure that their roles are adequately reflected in this document. As a result, FEMA Recovery will hold the first of several webinars on Friday, January 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM eastern.
