EMForum.org is pleased to host a one hour presentation and interactive discussion Wednesday, November 30, 2011, beginning at 12:00 Noon Eastern time (please convert to your local time). Our topic will be the Rad Resilient City Preparedness Checklist, a local planning tool released by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Center for Biosecurity during September.

The checklist converts the latest federal guidance and technical reports into 7 clear, actionable steps for communities to take to protect their residents from radioactive fallout. The workbook includes an implementation plan for cities and their neighbors, guidance for using buildings as shelters, a community preparedness education plan, and strategies for developing effective public messages that could save lives.

Our guest will be Monica Schoch-Spana, Ph.D., Director of the Rad Resilient City initiative , Senior Associate with the Center for Biosecurity, and Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases. She also serves on the faculty and steering committee for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), a university-based center of excellence supported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Please make plans to join us, and see the Background Page for related materials and Instructions. If this will be your first time to participate, please check your connection at least a day in advance by clicking on the Live Meeting Login link. The Live Meeting client must be used in order to access the audio.

As always, please feel free to extend this invitation to your colleagues.
