Training: AWR 148: Crisis Management for School-Based Incidents: Partnering Rural Law Enforcement & the Local School Systems

  • 05/03/2011
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Eastern Iowa Community College District, Muscatine Community College (Strahan Lecture Hall), 152 Colorado St., Muscatine, IA

This training is an 8-hour, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security-approved course designed to educate rural law enforcement personnel as well as school administrators and staff on the elements that would allow for an effective response to school-based emergencies. Schools in small, rural and remote areas across the country account for almost 23% of the total student population (more than 11 million students). Rural schools, law enforcement and other emergency responders are often limited in resources, so it is imperative that all potentially affected parties collaborate on planning, preparing, communicating, responding and recovering from a school-based incident.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to Incident Planning & Preparedness
  • Proactive Threat Mitigation
  • Incident Response
  • Incident Recovery
  • Vulnerability Assessments
  • Threat Assessment Management
  • Incident Defusing & Debriefing
  • Parent Reunification
  • Anniversaries, Memorials "Copy-Cats"

Prerequisites: U.S. Citizenship

Free training opportunity

Registration: Complete and return via email, fax or mail registration form no later than April 19, 2011.
