Local response partners are launching a Linn County Medical (and Non-Medical) Reserve Corps (MRC). We are looking to additional community partners and others to assist us with this project. Please forward in your offices/organizations as you feel appropriate. You may also share with family members and friends if you wish.
MRC units are community-based and function as a way to locally organize and utilize volunteers - medical professionals and others - who want to donate their time to prepare for and respond to emergencies. MRC volunteers supplement existing local emergency and public health resources.
In the fall of 2010 a small group of MRC planning members started meeting weekly to address logistical, financial, and operational issues of a local medical reserve corps. The planning partners currently include:
The determined uses of the Linn MRC would be for mass dispensing (health supplies or medical vaccination/dispensing) and special needs shelter support.
View the brochure and press release which note additional MRC information. You are welcome to attend a Linn County MRC Kick Off Meeting to learn more about the corps. If you are unable to attend the Kick Off, please feel free to contact Julie Stephens at 319.892.6023 or julie.stephens@linncounty.org with any questions you may have.
The Kick Off will address general MRC information. It will also offer a forum to ask volunteer specific questions.
