Basic Animal Rescue Training
BART’s Mission is to empower firefighters and other first responders to be prepared and equipped to address pets and livestock encountered in emergencies and disasters. BART serves to honor the human-animal bond and preserve human health, safety and well-being.
BART offers small and large animal courses for first responders
BART’s curriculum is Department of Homeland Security (DHS) -approved
BART’s Instructors are Veterinarians (DVM), Certified Vet Technicians (CVT), or veterinary students
BART has trained over 5,000 fire fighters and other first responders
BART, in conjunction with the Iowa City Animal Services, Iowa Equine Rescue, the ISU Extension Service, The Johnson County Ag. Association and the Johnson County Emergency Management Agency will be holding free trainings on both small animal rescue and large animal rescue.
The small animal training is being held on Saturday, November 7th 2015 from 9 AM until Noon and the large animal training will be Sunday November 8th 2015 from 9 AM until Noon.
The courses are free to participants for either or both courses, but class size is limited to the first (20) twenty registered participants. Both courses will be held at the ISU Extension Bldg. located at 3109 Old Highway 218 S. Iowa City, IA 52246 (by the Johnson County Fairgrounds)
If you are a first responder or animal rescue volunteer (with basic First Aid and CPR), then you are invited to attend.
