Training: Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Operations and Planing for All-Hazards Events

Dates: March 10-12, 2015 (24 hours)

Course Overview:
The EOC course offers participants insight into, and practical experience with, emergency management and decision-making skills necessary to effectively manage an EOC and the overall response to a large-scale Type 3 or 2 and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)/terrorism incident or all-hazard event utilizing the MACS. The EOC course is 24 hours in length, with decision-based exercises comprising 8 of the 24 hours. This course will develop and reinforce emergency   management, situational awareness, information management, resource management, and decision-making skills for course participants. The course adapts existing emergency management [National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS)] procedures to the unique requirements of EOC operations.

Scope:
The course offers the opportunity for participants to practice emergency management and to gain practical experience in individual and group processes necessary to manage an EOC. Each participant will gain a better understanding of the management requirements and skills necessary to effectively coordinate and support the response.

Participant Audience:
  • Emergency responders, supervisors, and managers from the following disciplines/services:
    • Fire service
    • Emergency medical services
    • Hazardous materials
    • Law enforcement
    • Public health
    • Public works
    • Emergency management
    • Government administrative
    • Non-governmental organizations

Prerequisites: Participants must be actively employed, or tasked to work in an EOC. It is also expected participants will have at least an intermediate level of understanding of ICS and some experience in incident management.

Course Size: Maximum of 40 participants; a balanced representation of above disciplines/services

Expense Reimbursement: Registrants who travel for the course may be eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses.
