Before, during and after emergencies impacting Iowans, the Safeguard Iowa Partnership gathers and distributes critical information from key public and private agencies. By joining Safeguard Iowa, you will ensure that your stakeholders are able to make decisions based on the latest available information.
Information sources available to you as a Safeguard Iowa partners
- Situation reports and other critical information during disasters
- Homeland Security Information Network portal - this secure portal provides the latest state and federal postings and announcements on a number of key issues
- Health Alert Network alerting and notification system (minimal fee) - the Health Alert Network is the primary system used to notify stakeholders when emergencies happen
- iCav, a secure, Web-based, geospatial visualization tool that integrates commercial and government-owned data and imagery from multiple sources
- Safeguard Iowa Partnership Twitter and other social media
Coordination
Safeguard Iowa acts as a central hub to ensure that business and government agencies understand each other's roles and responsibilities before, during and after emergencies.
Safeguard Iowa coordinates training and exercise workshops to prepare organizations and allow them to share their operational goals before events. During activations, Safeguard Iowa helps coordinate missions and activities of participating partners.
During recovery, Safeguard Iowa works to ensure Iowans are aware of the aid programs that are available to assist businesses and communities.
As a partner of Safeguard Iowa, you receive
- Opportunity to participate as a representative for the private-sector at the State Emergency Operations Center or participating county/local emergency operations centers
- Access to enter information into the Safeguard Iowa business resource registry to list resources that may be available for use by emergency responders
